NIKOLAY NEVREV (1830–1904)Â
Nikolay Nevrev was born in Moscow. He studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture (1851–1856) and was a painter and a pedagogue. Nevrev was a member of the Society of Traveling Art Exhibitions (since 1881) and participated in the Abramtsevo Colony since the very beginning (1878). In Abramtsevo he painted the icon "St. Nicholas" (1882) for the Church of the Savior, took part in the amateur performances. He also collected ancient costumes used by Viktor Vasnetsov in the work at his pictures on historical themes. Now the Abramtsevo Museum holds the artist's pictures. |
